Let me clarify... can you claim to believe in god and not belong to an organized religion? I mean out of all of them, having a clear understanding how many of them do not believe the other is right, decide to pick one.
In my family alone I have a Jewish Aunt, A Jehovah witness, catholics, born again Christians, my mother in law is Buddhist, my nana is Episcopal, my mom was a Mormon for a couple years.... until she found out black people could not hold a position of power (this was in the 70's)... considering my sister is half black she dropped that religion like a hot potato.
SO while yes I find it hard to believe in one religion, because so many of the people I love dearly have different religions, I choose to believe they will all go to heaven. I believe in god, I don't believe in an organized religion, I don't believe one religion is right.
Most of this is because when I was little these church buses would pull up and coax little kids from the projects to come to church and they will give them candy if you do. Mormons would ride their little bikes into the projects and try to save us. I just think bribing kids with candy to go to church is sad....
I personally donate to my money straight to the people who need it through organizations that have a 100% give back rate.
So anyway.... I am spiritual but no.... not religious and I don't think this should be a problem...
what do you think?

Of course you can be both! I'm neither, myself.
I don't think it's a problem at all to be spiritual and not religious. I happen to be religious and not particularly spiritual (which I suppose is an odd combination), so the growing number of people who are "spiritual, but not religious" sometimes frustrate me because it seems that being religious is a bad thing in a growing number of communities these days. I, too, am inclusivist when it comes to the idea of Heaven (which is not representative of most Christians, I know) and have no problem with the idea that everyone will go. Truthfully, I don't even know if I believe in Heaven. I'm not religious because I'm afraid of Hell, I'm religious because I believe it is the best way for me to live.
Giving money directly to charity organizations is a great way to participate in good works in the community. We happen to give a portion of our money to the church to do work at home and away, knowing that our church uses the money for compassionate ministries, not just evangelistic purposes. I've never personally had any experience with bribing kids with candy to come to church, but I feel certain the churches that use such practices are misguided into believing that they are just encouraging kids to attend, not pulling a "bait and switch," even if that is exactly what they're doing.
I don't think there is any problem with being spritual but not prescribing to any specific religion. That is pretty much how I am and to me, it make much more sense that way.
You know, then your not all "my religion is better than yours" or "you're going to hell because you don't believe what I believe"
